Dear Carissa,

I answer your questions about life. I do love the smell of handwritten letters but let’s save paper and connect here. From career advice, self-help, & beauty tips ( from within ) I hope to mentor and guide you on your path using my experience/knowledge gained during my career and personal journey.  Mentorship from my honest perspective, every second Tuesday - June 11.

Q: Dear Carissa, What does it mean to practice gratitude?

RJ says:

I usually spend my first waking moments thinking that I don’t want to leave my bed and anxious thoughts. Definitely going to try and change that!

    Carissa Walford says:

I hear you. I’ve had a few dark times like that and it’s a shit place to be in but, you’ve acknowledged you need to create a new health habit to get out of your thoughts & start the day with a fresh new perspective. Well done. I’m so excited for you to start journaling. I suffer from anxiety and after a few weeks I noticed a big difference mentally so stick to it and you’ll see results. Also download Headspace, another fav habit of mine is meditation. Even just 5-10 min every morning will do wonders. X

      RJ says:

Yes, meditation helps me immensely! (When I remember to do it!) I downloaded Headspace, first session done! I appreciate your advice.

    RJ says:

Just an update: It has been about a week and I am enjoying this journaling! Starting and ending the day with gratitude is so nice. I am still training myself to grab my journal before my phone when I wake up. I think I might need to put my phone out of arm’s reach at night!

      Carissa Walford says:

Well done. Thank you for updating me. Makes me so happy to hear you’ve started this habit. It takes 90 days for a habit to become automatic so stick at it, & maybe try leaving your phone in the lounge room and using an old school alarm clock 😉 Don’t worry, I still need to work on my consistency! Picked up my phone this morning too!!

Krystle says:

Thank you, Carissa, for reigniting my desire to journal. I bought a journal at the beginning of 2019 with the intention of journalling every evening before bed (instead of scrolling through social media). This lasted a few nights before my journal ended up deep under a pile of books and essential oils. After reading your letter, I jumped straight onto The Intelligent Change and purchased The Five Minute Journal. I cannot wait to restart my journal journey using the method you have spoken about. Thank you for continuing to inspire and educate. I love reading Dear Carissa and watching all of your informative and beautiful content xxx

    Carissa Walford says:

You are most welcome. We are so addicted to our bad habits sometimes but it’s amazing you’ve been able to pick it back up again. I’ve had moments where I’ve been resistant to doing the work and every time I get into a good routine with journaling again, I wonder why I ever stopped ha – always the way isn’t it. I’m so happy we’ve connected, & welcome to the IBWC fam bam xx
